 WHAT IS THIS?
 =============
 This is a C++ implementation of bottom-up red-black trees. The files
 in this directory consist of source code and a test driver for an
 red-black tree class library written in C++. Please note that this
 implementation is not particularly efficient: It uses recursion instead
 of iteration and imposes some extra levels of indirection. Efficiency
 was sacrificed in favor of making the code easy to learn from and to
 understand. Once you understand the code you can implement your own
 optimizations.

 VERSION
 =======
 This is *not* really a formal software package. The code is intended
 more for instructional use than for production use. I guess Ill call
 this release version 2.0.

 PORTING
 ============
 This software should compile on most platforms with a C++ compiler that
 supports templates. You may or may not experience difficulty depending
 on how well your C++ compiler supports templates. Also please look at
 the "Notes" near the beginning of RedBlack.h and Comparable.h regarding why
 the enum types cmp_t and dir_t are declared outside of their classes.
 If you find a "fix" for this please let me know. You will need to
 modify the Makefile to configure which compiler and flags to use, and
 which directories to use.

 BUGS
 ====
 ***NOTE***: This package was formerly part of a package that included
 an AVL tree library and a 2-3 tree library. While it did compile and run
 when it was a complete package with some common files, it has not yet been
 compiled or tested in isolation from the other libraries. Some compile-time
 errors are likely to be present.

 Please send all bug reports to the author.
